So today was a realxy kinda Sunday. We continued our usual routine of church and brunch (apple and turkey panini turned out to be an excellent choice!). Then, I tutored, wrote a paper about my communication style, and studied for my Comps.
NoSODAvember has been going bueno. I did not have my usual soda with brunch today. I opted for a cranberry/pineapple juice mixture. Fab choice! Very sugary though (duh Erin) so next week I may ask our waiter to cut it with water.
Last night my bff Ra and I went to see Matt Nathanson in concert at the Electric Factory. It was AMAZEBALLS! This was my fourth MN concert (Cara's 8th...snaps for Ra). I was thinking back and I think I have almost seen him as many times as I have seen Taylor Swift. I've seen her six times. Matt's concerts are fantastic because it is a combination of humor+amazing song writing+people watching. If you've never been to a Matt Nathanson concert I highly suggest going. He's hilarious! Last night he told us his theory about how each of us has a teeny tiny Whitney Houston in us. Some of us have '80s Whitney where we're all poppy, headband wearing, and jumping around, some of us are the Bobby Brown era Whitney (no explanation necessary) and a very small percentage of us, "3%" to quote MN have The Bodyguard Whitney. (I'm an '80s Whitney for sure. Give this girl some big hair and I Wanna Dance With Somebody any/every/all day) He pointed to an older gentlemen and idenitfied him as "the chosen one who embodies The Bodyguard Whitney. We all LOLed. Cara turned me on to Matt our freshmen year of college and I have been hooked ever since. His lyrics are so honest, so true, and poetic. He's not cheesy or commercially pop. He's very original and was an English major in college. He's a great writer and you should check him out if you already haven't. He is so much more than Come on Get Higher. Try to watch him live on Youtube because you will get to experience the humor, too!! My favorite MN song is I Saw.
Today in the tradition of 30 Days of Thankfulness I am thankful for my friends. I have so many amazing friends in my life and I'm so excited/blessed/amazed/fortunate/and grateful to have them all be a part of my life. I know that I hit the jackpot! I have some friends that I made when I was 3 and some that I made this year. I just can't believe how much I have learned and grown because of having them in my life. They listen to my crazy ideas, stories, tolerate my interrupting, laugh at my jokes (even the ones that aren't funny), analyze relationships over and over with me, give me hugs when I need them, give me tough love when I need it, make me laugh when I cry, and reel me in when I've gone off the deep end. They give me the support, love, and laughter I need in my life. I've always been taught to surround yourself with people that are better than you because then you will aspire to be a better person. I think I have done just this. My friends are great people. They are everything to me and I wish them all the best in life and love. A lot of my friends are going to be teachers and I know that the future of education is bright because of these lovely ladies. I love love love my friends and wouldn't be one ounce as a happy as I am now if I didn't have them.
